In a world that’s constantly rushing...

we offer a step back —which is, at the same time, a step forward. At slo-tek, we embrace the role of seekers rather than providers of perfected solutions—navigating a careful, inquisitive path towards a design practice grounded in authenticity, social consciousness, and environmental humility, embodied through principles of SLOW, LOCAL, and LOW-TECH.

A project in mind? Our Design studio provides design consultations, full-scope architecture and interior services, focussed on natural, local and upcycled building techniques and materials.

At slo—tek, we believe that true progress begins when we embrace a more deliberate pace.

By working locally, crafting with hands, and keeping technology appropriate to context, we create architecture, interiors, and rural-development solutions that honor people and planet.

Storytelling

We meticulously document the transformation that design brings. Our narratives track environmental, social, and economic impacts, ensuring learning is shared and open. Storytelling is our way of showing not just the “what,” but the “how” and “why” behind everything we do.

Making

By working hands-on, we honor craft and connect new technologies with ancestral skills. Our making process is deeply mindful, celebrating the journey from concept to tangible creation—a dialogue with place, materials, and people.

Design

Drawing from local heritage while innovating for today’s challenges, we select materials and strategies with purpose and transparency. Every project, workshop, and partnership is an invitation to slow down and build with care, merging vernacular wisdom with sustainable advancements.

The Nepal School Project is designed as a modular, community-driven campus that adapts to diverse rural sites. Built from locally produced earth blocks and resilient to both earthquakes and floods, the design ensures safety, affordability, and sustainability. Classrooms and multipurpose spaces frame a central courtyard, encouraging play, outdoor learning, and community gatherings. Rainwater harvesting, solar energy, and passive cooling strategies create a comfortable and energy-efficient learning environment year-round.

Rural Design

A Flexible and Resilient School for Rural Nepal
The new primary school unfolds as a bright and welcoming campus, a place where learning and community meet. Two wings embrace a central hall filled with light, opening onto green courtyards and flexible spaces for play, study, and exchange. Built in timber and shaped by daylight, the school radiates warmth and sustainability. With natural materials, renewable energy, and a seamless connection to its landscape, it becomes a model for inclusive and future-ready education.

Architecture

Primary School with Sports Hall
The Project transforms a 1970s swimming pool into a place where architecture and landscape dissolve into one another. A timber pavilion rises with quiet clarity from the meadow, its green roof folding into the forest edge, while pools, lawns, and tree groves form a seamless open-air stage for leisure and encounter. Here, swimming, resting, and gathering are framed by nature itself — a design that feels at once timeless and freshly imagined. Sustainable materials and careful detailing anchor the Waldbad as both landmark and landscape, a place of recreation that belongs deeply to its setting.

Open Air Swimming Pool
The new Green Depot is designed as a place where architecture, landscape, and sustainability meet. Set within a 30,000 m² site, the facility integrates offices, workshops, and vehicle halls into a unified, park-like environment. By lowering the service yard and covering the garage roofs with walkable green meadows, the depot blends seamlessly with its surroundings while setting new standards for ecological and climate-conscious design.

Architecture

Municipal Depot - A workplace shaped by ecology
This master’s thesis explores Berlin as an “Arrival City” — a place where migration, diversity, and urban transformation converge. Inspired by Doug Saunders’ concept, the project investigates how densification and community-oriented design can strengthen integration in socio-economically diverse neighborhoods. The proposal envisions six permeable multi-blocks that mix housing, cooperative development, and shared spaces, creating vibrant urban quarters that support both everyday life and cultural exchange. Collective living and mixed-use programs turn the site into a small city within the city.

Architecture

Arrival City - Inclusive Urbanism for Berlin
This community center is conceived as a flexible and adaptable structure that balances standardization with local customization. Built on a raised platform to withstand floods, it organizes multipurpose spaces, an Anganwadi, a kitchen, and shaded verandas around a neem-shaded playground. Sustainable materials such as compressed earth blocks and bamboo vaults create naturally cool interiors, while rainwater harvesting and vegetable gardens connect the building to its landscape. More than just infrastructure, the center becomes a vibrant social anchor for learning, gathering, and everyday community life.

Rural Design

Community Center- A Modular, Resilient Hub for Village Life
This homestay concept for Mizoram combines traditional stilted architecture with modern modular design. Elevated bamboo-and-wood structures embrace the landscape, offering guests light-filled, airy spaces that connect seamlessly to their natural surroundings. Locally sourced materials, passive strategies, and renewable energy integrate environmental stewardship with cultural authenticity. The result is a cozy, distinctive retreat that is both sustainable and rooted in the region’s identity.

Architecture, Rural Design

Rural homestay on stilts
This project transformed a compact 42 sqm dental clinic into a bright, inviting space that feels both modern and familiar. A colorful façade with restored doors and furniture creates transparency and warmth, while the high ceiling enhances openness. Designed with a limited budget, the clinic balances cost-effectiveness with atmosphere, offering patients a comfortable and uplifting environment.

We are on a mission to create mindful spaces and products at a slower, human pace—local, low-tech, and purposeful. At SLOTEK, Dipayan’s passion for sustainable, community-rooted architecture meets Anne’s love for interiors, art, and craft, united by the belief that design can make a difference, and grateful to share this journey with you.

The big move

Anne longed for life abroad, inspired by diverse cultures, while Dipayan, after seven years in Germany, felt called back to India to pursue sustainable, socially driven design. United by his vision and her passion for Indian arts and crafts, we moved east in 2023 to begin building something new together.

On the road

Whenever time allowed, we set out to explore—across Germany, Europe, and North America. Each journey became a living sketchbook, filled with textures, impressions, and fleeting encounters. These travels left us with a trove of ideas and countless sparks of inspiration that continue to shape and enrich our evolving design practice today.

The knock on the door

It began with something ordinary: Anne locked herself out of her apartment and knocked on a neighbor’s door. The conversation quickly turned to art, design, travel—and India. What started as chance dialogue soon evolved into a shared perspective, leading to years of collaboration and a life together in Germany.

How it all started

Stuttgart, 2017. Anne was practicing as a graphic designer while Dipayan pursued architecture and urban planning. They lived in the same building, moved through the same city, yet their paths never crossed. It was a parallel existence—two disciplines, two trajectories—quietly setting the stage for a future collaboration still to come
